Its current site was originally a 4-acre rubber estate which was bought in 1957.
It started as a small chapel and friary in the 1950s when some Franciscan friars arrived to spread the Gospel.
It initially started as a sociological centre to combat the communist threat influence in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
